Novartis Oncology Japan is committed to providing innovative products and services in the oncology area where we still have numerous unmet medical needs. We aim at becoming a most trusted and preferred partner for customers and patients in Japan.

In Japan, Glivec, the first molecularly-targeted therapy for the treatment of Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia was introduced to the market in 2001, followed by Sandstatin LAR, Zometa, and Femara in 2004, 2005 and 2006 respectively. Organization-wise, Japan Oncology Business Unit was established in April 2002. Since that time, the unit has recorded double digit growth in sales each year and its market share is rapidly expanding.

Japan Oncology Business Unit’s objective is to contribute to the better treatment and the improved quality of life of patients. To realize this objective, our development, marketing, sales and other divisions are collaborating with each other to work as a team focusing on better customer/patient services.

The business unit is also involved in a wide range of public educational activities. We run a free mammography bus that visits various cities in Japan to enlighten the public on the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer. We also organize seminars for the public on various medical and healthcare topics as well as providing support for patient groups.

日本のオンコロジー事業部について

ノバルティス ファーマ株式会社のオンコロジー事業部は、 未だ有効な治療方法のない医療上のニーズが多く残されているがん領域において、 常に顧客や患者さんから信頼され、選ばれるパートナーになるべく、 革新的な製品およびサービスの提供に注力しています。

日本では、2001年に慢性骨髄性白血病に対する初の分子標的薬剤として「グリベック^®」 を発売以来、2004年に先端巨大症および消化管ホルモン産生腫瘍の主要治療薬 「サンドスタチン^®LAR^®」、2005年には骨吸収抑制剤「ゾメタ^®」、 2006年に閉経後乳がん治療剤の「フェマーラ^®」と次々と新製品を投入してきました。 組織上オンコロジー事業部として設立されたのは2002年4月であり、以来、 事業部の売上高は毎年2桁の伸張率を示し、マーケットシェアも急速に拡大しています。

オンコロジー事業部では、患者さんに優れた薬剤を提供し、 よりよい治療とQOLの向上に貢献することを目標に、開発・マーケティング・ 営業など各部門が一丸となり、シームレスな連携のもとに活動しています。 また、乳がんの早期発見の重要性を啓発するための乳がん検診バスキャラバンや、 各種の市民公開講座、患者会活動のサポートなど、 一般の方々や患者さんに向けた幅広い活動を展開しています。
