About Open Employee Generation

Earlier this year, Novartis Oncology launched Open Employee Generation – a global campaign with a dual mission:

• Celebrate the unique stories taking shape at Novartis Oncology locations around the world, uniting employees in the fight to help cancer patients live longer, better lives.
• Help Novartis Oncology meet its ambitious hiring goals: to recruit hundreds of new employees worldwide by year end.

The campaign invited Novartis Oncology employees around the world to submit personal video testimonials that expressed what it means to be a part of Novartis Oncology. 125 Flip cameras were distributed to Novartis Oncology locations around the world – from Canada to Australia and Argentina to Russia – with a simple ask: "tell us why you work here!"

An internal campaign microsite was developed as the hub of the campaign – where employees could not only submit their videos, but view, comment and vote on the submissions of their peers.

Employee engagement was overwhelming. From Novartis Oncology’s employee base of 5,000 worldwide, we saw:

• 131 video testimonials submitted from employees in 28 countries
• 1,541 votes cast during the voting phase of the campaign
• 375 comments posted on the campaign microsite by Novartis Oncology employees about the video stories of their peers
• 7,000 site visits

Most importantly, Open Employee Generation was able to unite Novartis Oncology's global community – allowing employees from across the globe to connect with one another around their common goal: helping improve and extend the lives of cancer patients around the world.
