Radiation therapy, also called radiotherapy, is another cancer treatment method for multiple myeloma. In radiation, X-rays are used to control the growth of cancer cells. Radiation therapy is a local cancer treatment, meaning that it affects the cancer cells only in the treated area. Radiation therapy is generally given to treat symptoms of multiple myeloma, such as bone pain or for single plasmacytoma.
