Make a World of Difference This Breast Cancer Awareness Month

A lot of people hear “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” in October and think pink ribbons and stories of survival. While it is great to celebrate the women who are cancer-free, early detection and prevention are not relevant to those of us living with advanced or metastatic disease. We will be on treatment for the rest of our lives, and live with the uncertainty of our future. However, we still have plenty of living to do and need support, especially in October when we feel the most isolated from the breast cancer community.
That’s why I’m happy to join Novartis and the Count Us, Know Us, Join Us program in an effort to help the world “re-frame” the breast cancer conversation this October through a simple but powerful social media action. Please join me by going to CountUs.Twibbon.com, and following a few easy steps to add a #CountUs digital frame to your Facebook or Twitter profile picture.
After you’ve updated your picture, encourage others to do the same by sharing the Facebook post or tweet located at the bottom of the webpage. Once October ends, you can easily change your picture back to the way it was before.
With your picture, my picture and pictures of many others around the world flooding social media, we will rise up together and advocate for the women and men living with metastatic breast cancer during what can be a very tough month.
